What does freedom mean to you?
For many, the concept of freedom is tied to breaking free from something—stress, bad habits, or challenging circumstances.
It's a new year and most are thinking about ways to do something different--whether that is start something new or break free of something old. The newness of the year comes with anticipation, excitement, and a hope that things are going to change. While you're in that mindset, I want to talk to you about FREEDOM!
When I say "freedom" what is the first thing that comes to mind? For many, the concept of freedom is tied to breaking free from something, but what if freedom isn't just the absence of what holds us back? What if it’s about something deeper, richer, and more transformational?
Freedom, as defined by God, isn’t merely about escaping captivity or eliminating destructive behaviors. It’s about the presence of someone—the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:17 says, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” This isn’t just theory; it’s Truth that changes everything.
When we start seeing freedom as the ability to fully respond to God and live as the person He created and redeemed us to be, everything shifts. This kind of freedom requires that we allow the Lord into every aspect of our lives; it requires a new way of thinking—a renewal of the mind. It’s not just about swapping out old thoughts for new ones; it’s about inviting the Spirit of God to breathe new life into how we see ourselves, others, and the world around us.
As we walk in this truth, we move beyond surface-level fixes and begin to address the root issues in our hearts. The results? A life that’s not just free, but abundant. You’re no longer defined by past mistakes or current struggles. Instead, you’re defined by the One who created you, loves you, and calls you His own.
A Moment of Reflection
How have your thoughts about freedom been shaped? Take a moment to reflect on these questions:
Take time to journal and ask God to reveal areas where He wants to bring freedom. Let Him show you how His presence can transform even the deepest struggles.
Remember, freedom is not a destination; it’s a journey with Jesus by your side. Together, let’s embrace the truth and walk in the freedom He promises. Let’s renew our minds and find the life God created us to live—free and abundantly fulfilled.
